Oh that's true!

It's amazing how things drawn can look so different from the real life animal even though it's pretty much the same thing.

yeah, the idea I had for this guy wasn't that his mane and tail actually change colors, but that he has a dark dorsal stripe that goes through it, with lighter hairs on the outside (which are shorter, so the darker hairs stand up higher)

Oohhh I love it!! Dorsal stripes are always so cool to me. When I see them on horses I always kinda...giggle, point them out then skip merely away leaving other people puzzled.
